PPA Energy in the hot seat filming training material for engineering graduates

15th July 2010

Imperial College London is developing video-based skills training material in a bid to promote the importance of soft skills to engineering graduates to prepare them for the work place.  Two representatives from PPA Energy, Neil Pinto and Claire Wilkinson, took part in filmed interviews on Tuesday 13th July, giving an employer’s and recent graduate’s perspective.  PPA Energy was among a number of companies involved in the project, including IBM, Jaguar Rover, Imagination Technologies and Deutche Bank.

The interviews focused on the commercial realities of work, leadership and the importance of communication skills and teamwork.  PPA Energy was able to offer a small company’s perspective, giving graduates an insight into the working environment and culture in a small organisation.  The interviewees were in the hot seat – not only from the bright lights, but also due to some of the questions! For example, how would you answer the question; what qualities do you have that make you a good boss?

As well as being used internally at Imperial College, the project has the sponsorship of the IET and will be networked throughout the IET Enhanced academic partnership.  The footage is due to go under the editing knife with the multimedia production company Sparks, who directed and filmed the interviews.  PPA Energy looks forward to seeing the finished product.
