We have a growing portfolio of activity in the UK and overseas, and are looking for motivated, self-starting and enthusiastic individuals to join our team.
Much of our international work is in developing countries. You will work on a wide range of projects, involving the planning and development of the energy sector (with a particular focus on electricity), electricity pricing and tariffs, and the application of innovative solutions to the technical and business challenges facing utilities as they position for the future.
We have opportunities for:
-
Graduates in economics, finance and related disciplines who are keen to apply their skills, including spreadsheet modelling, to the economic and financial assessment of energy projects and electricity pricing studies in developing countries and in the evolving European energy markets, as well as the UK;
-
Graduates and post-graduates with electrical engineering backgrounds and some exposure to the planning and development of power generation, transmission and distribution;
-
Management consultants with experience of business process design and performance improvement in the utilities sector, ideally in the developing world; and
-
Experienced electricity sector specialists with an in-depth knowledge of power system planning and operation, including generation planning and/or transmission/distribution planning.
All candidates should have a first degree in a numerate discipline and ideally a second degree in an energy-related field or an MBA - although other blends of qualifications and experience will be considered for exceptional applicants.
Excellent verbal and written skills are essential, as is the proven ability to work in a team and to relate well with clients and colleagues to deliver project results.
Roles will be based in the company's Head office in Guildford, however frequent UK and overseas travel is also expected. Normal office hours will apply, although a willingness to undertake occasional longer hours is required. A clean driving licence would be beneficial.
In addition to full time staff, we are always interested in hearing from freelance consultants who may wish to be added to our register of associates.
If you are interested in any of these opportunities, please e-mail a copy of your CV and a one page letter highlighting your recent relevant experience to: mailto:hr@powerplanning.com
Please note: We already have established relationships with recruitment agencies and can therefore can only accept enquiries from private individuals.
