Jonathan Hedgecock is an Executive Director of PPA and has worked in power sector consultancy for the past 22 years, initially focusing on transmission and distribution system planning and analysis. This involved him in numerous assignments in the international electricity sector, undertaking least cost network development studies and power system simulation projects for public and private sector clients. He is a specialist in network pricing and regulation, the design of commercial arrangements for the trading of ancillary services (including reactive power and frequency control services) and the control of system losses. He has worked on the development of rules and system specifications for system operators and electricity markets in Brazil, South Korea, Bosnia & Herzegovina and South Africa.
From 2005 to 2007 he led a team working on Long Term Transmission Pricing and Ancillary Service Market development the Southern African Power Pool (SAPP). In the area of technical regulation, he led a project in 2007/08 to develop customer service and supply quality standards for the African Forum for Utility Regulation.
