Rahul N Desai - Consultant
Rahul is a power professional with over 4 years of hands on work experience in the Power Sector. Rahul holds an MBA from University of Leeds, UK and a Power Engineering degree from National Power Training Institute, New Delhi, India.
Rahul was an executive in North Delhi Power Ltd (NDPL), a joint venture of Tata Power and Government of Delhi. He was involved in business process re-engineering of commercial processes, smart metering (AMR) roll out, and other commercial loss reduction activities. Rahul also worked as a Grid engineer and has managed 66kV/33kV/11kV grid stations. As part of the team, Rahul was highly successful in achieving the annual targets and meeting company’s initiatives to reduce distribution losses from 48% to 21%.
Rahul holds 2005 Academic excellence award for final year engineering awarded by Ministry of Power, Government of India. During his MBA, Rahul was chosen for 2009 University Of Leeds ESSAM Scholarship and was sent to University Of Aarhus in Denmark to represent Leeds University in European Summer School of Advanced Management programme. During this period Rahul also completed a consultancy project with DONG Energy on Photovoltaic Technology.
For his MBA dissertation, Rahul was selected by British Gas (Centrica) for summer internship and he worked closely with British Gas smart metering team on “Smart metering roll out opportunities”.
Whist at PPA Energy, Rahul has worked on development of Framework of Performance Management for Energy Utilities in the developing part of the world, has developed training material for World Bank training days, has also worked on several innovative projects on conditional monitoring of distribution assets in the UK from concept stage to prototype development to actual implementation on the field.
