Knowledge Transfer Partnership

1st October 2009

PPA Energy is pleased to announce our involvement in an EPSRC funded Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP). KTPs are the collaboration of business and academia in a pre-determined project, the central goal of these partnerships is to provide enhanced UK knowledge, technology and skills to increase business competiveness.

PPA Energy is project leading the ‘On-line Incipient Fault Detection and Location on Overhead Lines' (OLIF) project. This collaborative project aims to create on-line condition monitoring systems for MV overhead lines.  Organisations involved in this project partnership are: EDF Energy Networks, EDF R&D, BAE Systems, Kehui and Cardiff University.

Central to Knowledge Transfer Partnerships is the recruitment of high-calibre, recently qualified people (i.e. graduates) to projects, referred to by the initiative as ‘associates'.  The recruitment of an associate(s) on a project provides all parties with access to enhanced knowledge and increased opportunities, providing both personal and business development. PPA Energy and Cardiff University are pleased to report the recruitment of John Snow to the OLIF project, an associate who will be carrying out project research tasks at both organisations.
