PPA Energy participates in ISLES Offshore Grid Project Launch

6th December 2011

On 23rd November 2011 PPA Energy played a prominent role in the ISLES launch event, hosted by the Scottish Executive and involving the Energy Ministers of Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

PPA Energy’s Craig Lucas presented the results of two years’ analysis into the economic and financial viability of the creation of an offshore grid linking Great Britain and the Island of Ireland, involving the potential to connect over 5 GW of renewable generation (predominantly offshore wind) into the host jurisdictions’ electricity networks.  ISLES has been at the forefront of work in the EU looking at options to develop offshore renewables and interconnection.

PPA Energy undertook this work as part of a consortium led by RPS Energy, also including TNEI Services Ltd. and IHC Merwede.
